The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strong warning against the repeated attacks on its members and properties, particularly during party activities in the state.

In a statement signed by Yusuf Idris Gusau, the APC Publicity Secretary for Zamfara State, the party expressed deep concern over the alleged inaction of the state police command, despite multiple complaints and three officially written petitions regarding such attacks.

“This warning has become critically necessary as the police in the state seem to have abandoned us to our fate, having paid no attention to our several complaints. Their inaction gives the impression that the Zamfara State Police Command is complicit in the matter,” the statement read.

The latest incident, according to the party, occurred during the grand finale of the official commissioning of constituency projects executed by Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu Bungudu, the House of Representatives member representing Maru/Bungudu Federal Constituency. The APC alleged that suspected thugs affiliated with the People's Democratic Party (PDP), along with Yansakai militia members, launched an attack on attendees.

The assailants were said to have strategically positioned themselves along the Gusau-Bungudu road, where they allegedly destroyed several vehicles and injured occupants simply because they were APC members.

APC Demands Immediate Action from Security Agencies

Condemning the attack in the strongest terms, the Zamfara APC has called on the police and other security agencies to immediately arrest and prosecute the perpetrators. The party warned that failure to take action would leave them with no choice but to defend themselves.

“We urge the police and other security agencies to immediately swing into action by arresting those responsible and ensuring they face justice. If this lawlessness continues unchecked, we will be left with no option but to protect our members and property by all necessary means,” the statement added.

Despite the provocation, the party urged its members to remain patient and assured them that justice will be pursued for those injured and those who suffered property damage.

“As a peace-loving party, we will not be part of any plan to destabilize the state’s political climate, as is seemingly intended by the PDP-led administration,” the APC concluded.
