The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic killing of Hafsoh Lawal, a final-year student of the Kwara State College of Education (KWCOE), Ilorin, by one Abdulrahman Bello, an acclaimed ‘Alfa.’

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir condemned the incident, describing it as unfortunate, alien, and a regrettable act of wickedness. He called for vigilance among parents, guardians, and community members, urging them to ensure that their children associate only with individuals of proven integrity and respectable backgrounds.

The Emir stressed that hard work remains the only legitimate path to success, warning against idleness and the reckless loitering of youths under the pretense of seeking a livelihood. He further urged Islamic clerics within the Ilorin Emirate and beyond to help sanitise the religious system by exposing fraudulent individuals like Abdulrahman Bello before they cause further harm.

Expressing his condolences to the family of the late Hafsoh Lawal, he called on the Nigeria Police and Judiciary to ensure that total justice is served. He also directed religious leaders, particularly Imams, to use their Friday sermons (Khutbah) to emphasize morality, dignity in labor, and the sanctity of human life—irrespective of tribe, religion, or status.
