The Emir of Tsafe, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Bawa, has turbaned Malam Jamilu Sani Tsafe—a member of the royal family—as the new Magajin Garin Tsafe III and Village Head of Tsafe South.
The turbanning ceremony, held yesterday at the Emir’s palace, was attended by numerous dignitaries, including several practicing journalists from across Zamfara State.
Speaking at the event, the Emir said Malam Jamilu’s royal lineage and his track record of contributions to the development of the emirate, the state, and Nigeria at large made him a deserving candidate for the position.
He urged the newly turbaned Magajin Garin to always prioritize the welfare of his people, uphold the values of tolerance, and promote the ideals of the traditional institution.
In his remarks, the Voice of America (VOA) correspondent and Zonal Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Northwest Zone A, Comrade Abdulrazak Bello Kaura, advised the new titleholder to shun any actions that go against the customs and values of the people. He also expressed hope that Malam Jamilu would be a worthy ambassador of the emirate.
Delivering his vote of thanks, Malam Jamilu Sani Tsafe expressed gratitude to the Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawal, the Emir of Tsafe, and members of the Tsafe Emirate Council for the honor bestowed on him. He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Also speaking, Comrade Ibrahim Musa Maizare, News Editor of The Legacy Weekly Newspaper and Chairman of the Zamfara State Council of the NUJ, urged the new Magajin Gari to foster unity and maintain a strong relationship with his subjects.
Malam Jamilu Sani Tsafe is a journalist with The Legacy Weekly Newspaper, covering the Office of the Deputy Governor. He also serves as the State Treasurer of the NUJ.
