The Presidency has downplayed the significance of a recent ruling by the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, which ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to release documents related to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said the documents—particularly those authored by Agent Moss of the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)—have been in the public domain for decades.

He emphasized that the reports neither indict the Nigerian president nor contain any new revelations that warrant concern.

"Journalists have sought the Presidency’s reaction to the ruling last Tuesday by a Washington, D.C. judge ordering the U.S. FBI and DEA to release reports connected with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu," the statement read.

"Our response is as follows:

"There is nothing new to be revealed. The report by Agent Moss of the FBI and the DEA report have been in the public space for more than 30 years. The reports did not indict the Nigerian leader. The lawyers are examining the ruling."
