The Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Area, Hon. Mustapha Jibrin Alheri, has described the death of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi as a profound loss to the entire Muslim community, citing the late Islamic scholar’s immense contributions to education, religious propagation, and communal harmony.

Hon. Alheri made this statement during the Fidda’u prayer organised by Huffazul Qur’an, the Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Foundation, and Fulani Youth Say Bago Again, held at the Minna Friday Mosque on Saturday.

According to him, Muslims must continue to uphold and emulate the noble values exemplified by the late Sheikh, noting that such virtues promote love, unity, and mutual understanding within society.

Also speaking at the event, the Member representing Bida/Gbako/Katcha Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abubakar Abdu Buba—represented by Abdurrahman Rogo—expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased. He described Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as a role model whose exemplary life serves as a guide toward righteous living and a good end. He further commended the organisers for their initiative and commitment in holding the prayer session in Minna.

In his remarks, the Niger State Chairman of the Huffazul Qur’an Association, Gwani Sheikh Hussaini Abubakar Shakwata, appreciated the Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Foundation and Fulani Youth Say Bago Again for their collaborative effort in organising the prayer. He prayed that Allah reward all those involved with abundant blessings for their good deeds.

Shakwata also thanked the clerics, traditional leaders, and dignitaries who set aside their personal engagements to participate in the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and prayers for the forgiveness and eternal rest of the late Sheikh. He stressed that such acts of devotion represent the love and Sunnah the Sheikh taught his followers during his lifetime.

On collaboration with the Niger State Government, Shakwata revealed that a Tsangaya school recently constructed by the state government in Bosso Local Government Area is set to be handed over to the Huffazul Qur’an Association. He noted that the government would retain responsibility for the school’s administration, including teaching and the welfare of students from primary to secondary levels, describing the initiative as a major milestone.

Representing the family of the deceased, Sayyadi Mukhtar Dahiru Bauchi expressed deep appreciation to the people of Niger State and the various organisations involved in organising the Fidda’u prayer. He said the family was overwhelmed by the show of love and solidarity.

He further highlighted the foundation’s educational initiatives, disclosing that it currently sponsors the education of over 300 children in Malaysia and plans to expand the programme. He added that the foundation operates more than 40 secondary schools for the training of almajiri in Niger State and intends to establish additional schools across all 25 local government areas of the state.

The event was attended by the Chief Imam of Minna, Sheikh Jibrin Isah Imam, other senior Islamic scholars, and leaders of various religious organisations across the state.
