The Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board (KSSLB) has commenced the screening of students of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, as part of preparations for the disbursement of scholarships under the administration of Governor Senator Uba Sani.
The exercise for ABU students was flagged off on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the One Thousand Sitter Auditorium within the university premises by the Chairman of the Board, Hon. Lawal Usman Mai ELSA.
A similar screening has also been launched for students of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, under the Kaduna State Scholarship Scheme.
Speaking at the events, Hon. Mai ELSA said the initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to expanding access to education and reducing the financial burden on students and their families. He noted that the scholarship programme is designed to promote academic excellence and strengthen human capital development across Kaduna State.
According to him, the screening process is aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness and accountability in the selection of beneficiaries, stressing that only qualified and deserving students would benefit from the scheme.
“This initiative aligns with the education-friendly policies of Governor Uba Sani, which prioritise youth empowerment and educational advancement,” he said.
The chairman also commended Governor Sani for his continued support and encouragement to the Board, describing the governor’s backing as instrumental in enabling the effective implementation of scholarship and loan programmes in the state.
Students who participated in the screening exercise expressed appreciation to the state government, noting that the scholarship support would ease their financial challenges and allow them to focus on their studies.
Officials of the Scholarship and Loans Board, representatives of the institutions and other stakeholders were present to oversee the smooth conduct of the screening.
The Kaduna State Government says it remains committed to investing in education as a foundation for economic growth, social stability and sustainable development, with similar interventions expected to extend to other tertiary institutions within and outside the state.
