Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has advocated unity and togetherness among critical stakeholders for the overall growth and development of Niger State.
The farmer Governor stated this during a special Ramadan Iftar organized for critical stakeholders at the Hauwa Wali Multi purpose hall, Government House Minna.
Farmer Umaru Bago who said the Iftar was organized to use the Ramadan season as a platform to interact with one another on ways to move Niger State and Nigeria forward saying, the spirit of love and forgiveness associated with the Ramadan season should be exemplified by all.
He emphasized the need for all critical stakeholders to be role models to the younger generation in order to follow the path of greatness and contribute their own quota to the development of the State.
Farmer Governor Umaru Bago also admitted that it is a long time stakeholders met to discuss issues relating to the State and advocated that the meeting should henceforth be held on quarterly basis to improve on the already existing cordial relationship among Stakeholders irrespective of party affiliation and plan for a better Niger.
He used the forum to call on the residents of the state to key into his agricultural revolution which he described as a reality that will help the State to diversify in terms of revenue generation more so that the tax reform bill will soon be in place.
Farmer Umaru Bago also revealed that the State APC has adopted the consensus method as the mode for primary elections preparatory to the upcoming Local Government Council elections and that names of candidates will be submitted by the Party to the State Independent Electoral Commission, even as he urged stakeholders to go back to their respective local governments to do the needful.
In his remarks, the Minister of State Agriculture Sen. Abdullahi Sabi commended Farmer Governor Umaru Bago for giving Niger State a sense of hope and direction especially in the agricultural sector where the State has been at the forefront in realizing the food security agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Sen. Muhammad Sani Musa who spoke on behalf of other Federal legislators from Niger State was full of admiration for the farmer Governor's developmental strides and his exemplary leadership style of carrying everyone along while also acknowledging the farmer Governor's critical role in the reduction of food prices in the markets.
Senator Sani Musa also made it clear that he is interested in the growth and development of Niger State but was concerned about fifty six kilometers of road captured in the 2025 budget considering that the state has over two thousand kilometers of federal roads which is the highest in the country
The National Vice Chairman APC North Central, Mu'azu Bawa Rijau, Speaker Niger State House of Assembly Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji and the APC Patrons Chairman, Gen. Garba in their separate remarks said the transformational drive and achievements of the farmer Governor is a symbol of progress, noting that the party is proud of him and assured of their continued support to the Bago-led administration.
The event was well attended with notable guests like the Niger State Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba, former Deputy Governor Ahmed Muhammad Ketso, Member Representing Agwara/Borgu federal Constituency Jafaru Mohammed and member representing Kontagora/Wushishi/Mariga/Mashegu federal constituency, Abdullahi Idris Garba Mai Solar
Others are member representing Suleja/Gurara/Tafa federal constituency Adamu Tanko, member representing Magama/Rijau federal constituency Shehu Saleh, Secretary to the State Government Abdullahi Usman, Head of Service Abubakar Sadiq Idris, local government Council Chairmen,Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Special Advisers, former Chief of Staff Ibrahim Balarabe and APC stalwarts among others.
